White Salmon July 4th Parade & Band Concert @ Downtown and Rheingarten Park
Jul 4 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

flag-fireworks[1]The best 4th of July celebration in the Gorge is right here in White Salmon! Join us for a patriotic hometown parade, followed by family-oriented fun in the park, including a band concert, old-fashioned games for kids, hot dogs, and refreshing beverages.

The parade starts up Jewett Blvd at 1:00 pm, led by the color guard and a large contingent of veterans riding in vintage cars, and followed by everything from colorful floats to kids on their bikes. Upon reaching the city park, parade and spectators alike will be welcomed to the music of the White Salmon Jazz Band. Recognition of Veterans will take place at 2:30 with the help of Harmony of the Gorge singing the anthems of the branches of service. The concert will be rounded out by the Gorge Winds Concert Band from 3:00 to 4:00pm.

Games for kids will begin at 2:00, including the “wheelbarrow” race, balloon toss, and 3-legged race. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy a picnic lunch with your friends and neighbors. Community Partners will be selling loaded sausage dogs, regular hot dogs for the kids, and soda, water or beer. Then choose from a selection of sweets — rootbeer floats, snow cones, cotton candy and ice cream.

Everyone is invited to take part in the parade – businesses, families, individual ‘floats.’ Decorate your dog, chicken, bike, wagon, wheelbarrow, car, or anything that can move, and join in the fun.

Parade entry forms are due by July 1 and can be found at City Hall, Gorge Ink at 176 Jewett, or download the July 4th Parade Application 2015. For more information call Karen at 541-340-0174. Veterans can sign up to ride in the parade by calling Jerry Smith at 509-493-1934.
